The Miami Dolphins have many needs in the 2020 NFL Draft, and corner is certainly one of them. They hope that Noah Igbinoghene will help.

In this 2020 NFL Draft class, there has been all sorts of debate over what order the corners would go. Outside of the top two corners, it seemed like every team had a different order. With plenty of corners still on the board, the Miami Dolphins take a reach with Noah Igbinoghene out of Auburn.

Auburn has speed and a motor to pair with a solid work-ethic. His biggest issue is that he is almost certainly going to be limited to only playing at slot corner. However, he can do that really well.

There was a misfire when Miami was going to pick saying that they were drafting D’Andre Swift, but they ended up trading back. I like that trade with what they were planning. If they were going to take Swift or Igbinoghene, they were almost certainly going to be available later in the first round. They basically got another free pick.

At the end of the day, Miami ended the first round with three risky players. Tua is a risk because of his injuries, Jackson is a risk because of the talent level, and the Auburn slot corner is a risk due to the lack of versatility.

Now, the assets they landed makes the first round more of a win than it could have been. They still need more offensive line help, a running back, an edge, safety help, and preferably help at the receiver position. Any extra pick is an extra chance to fill one of those needs.

Grade: B-

I don’t love this pick, but it’s not awful. We’ll see what they do on Friday and Saturday, but almost every mock draft had a better result than Tua, Austin Jackson, and Noah Igbinoghene.
