Jake Fromm waited for almost two full founds on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft to hear his name called, but the Bills made it happen.

After an impressive career with Georgia, even taking the starting job from Jacob Eason after he was injured and forcing him to transfer to Washington, Jake Fromm plummeted in the 2020 NFL Draft after once being considered a Day 1 or Day 2 pick.

Over the years, his draft stock fell and his combine performance didn’t help matters as his arm strength was a concern.

For most of the day on Saturday, Fromm was the best player available on Mel Kiper Jr.’s big board but teams were passing on him and guys like James Morgan and even Eason went before him. He was the player everyone was keeping an eye on and you almost had to feel bad for the kid who left Georgia a year early which seems now like a potential mistake.

Was leaving Georgia a year early worth being drafted in the fifth round by the Bills, a team that has its quarterback of the future in Josh Allen?

Maybe, maybe not, but Fromm is a proven winner who passed for 8,236 yards and 78 touchdowns with just 18 interceptions with a 63 percent completion rate. He made it to a national title game and won an SEC title, but scouts apparently didn’t see enough from him to make him an early-rounder.

How did Twitter react to his selection by the Bills?

The overwhelming feeling about this pick is that Fromm was a great pick by the Bills and some even think that he could push Allen. Though I think he’s going to be a great backup for a couple of years, I do believe he’ll be a good starting option after and potential trade piece.
