NFL Draft 2020: Ranking 5 teams that had the best draft
Plenty of franchises filled significant needs on their rosters during the 2020 NFL Draft, but five hauls stood out most. Which ones stole the show?
The 2020 NFL Draft is in the books. Despite concerns, the league successfully completed the first-ever virtual draft as coaches and general managers were stuck drafting alone in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For many NFL teams, home cooking seemed to do wonders as most general managers are receiving praise for their draft hauls.
Five teams, in particular, stood out the most and account for the top five draft classes for 2020. Here’s who made the cut.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Picks: OT Tristan Wirfs, S Antoine Winfield Jr., RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn, WR Tyler Johnson, DT Khalil Davis, OLB Chapelle Russell, RB Raymond Calais
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are proving Tom Brady made the right decision about where to finish his NFL career. Tampa traded up one spot in the first round to land Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs who will start immediately at right tackle.
In the second round, the Bucs got much needed secondary help in Unanimous first team defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. in what could end up being one of the drafts’ biggest steals.
Later in the draft, Tampa added offensive weapons Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who could compete with Ronald Jones for the starting running back job, Tyler Johnson, to help take pressure off Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
They also snagged a late-round trench monster in Khalil Davis to rotate with Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea.
The Bucs filled nearly every major need remaining on their roster to continue what’s already been the NFL’s biggest offseason storyline.
