There were definitely some surprise picks in this year’s NFL draft. Which picks were the biggest reaches in this year’s selection process?

In each and every NFL draft there are some reaches in each round, particularly in the first round. Teams will take talented guys that they think they can coach up, especially at the most premium positions like quarterback, offensive tackle, cornerback and pass rusher. That’s where you will find some of the reaches in this year’s draft.

While there were reaches in all rounds, they don’t usually hurt the most unless they’re from round one. Teams made some questionable picks this year and there were more than five, but some definitely stuck out.

I classify a reach like most of you will: taking a player earlier than expected, whether that is due to need or taking that player because of some unfulfilled potential.

Most years, teams take quarterbacks earlier than expected, but this years draft class saw reaches at other positions, especially on the defensive side of the football.

I’m going to take a look at what I thought were the biggest reaches in this year’s NFL draft.
