player. 28. CB. Ohio State. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Damon Arnette

This was the most head-scratching moment of the first round.

The Raiders needed to take a cornerback at some point in the first round, but there were some much more logical choices on the board at pick No. 19. Damon Arnette was viewed by most as a late second to third-round pick and that is where I had him as well.

The Raiders chose to take Arnette at 19 despite TCU’s Jeff Gladney, Alabama’s Trevon Diggs and Auburn’s Noah Igbinoghene remaining on the board, as well as some other defensive players that the Raiders could have selected instead of him.

This pick will be watched heavily in the coming years, especially with the Raiders being under some pressure to produce immediate victories.
