Feleipe Franks was one of those rare in-conference transfers, going from Florida to Arkansas. It was shocking to see him leave the Gators after starting for three seasons, but the rise of Kyle Trask after his injury was the deciding factor. There was no longer a guarantee that he’d have his job back if he returned to Gainesville.

So Franks decided to head to Arkansas where the quarterback spot was wide open, especially after a disastrous 2019 season when Nick Starkel and Ben Hicks were supposed to upgrade the position but instead ran it into the ground.

You could look at Franks and see that he has some of the qualities NFL teams are looking for such as size, arm strength and even leadership ability, but consistency was lacking throughout his Florida career.

In fact, Franks had nine touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 54 percent of his passes as a freshman to throwing 24 touchdowns with six interceptions as a sophomore. It’s not clear what direction he was heading in as a junior with five touchdown passes and three picks through four games, but it looked to be a slight step backward.

If Franks can continue to improve his accuracy (it was a career-best 76 percent before his 2019 injury), and cut down on turnovers, he could be an attractive mid-round option for a team looking for quarterback depth.
