Ohio State. Chase Young. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. 4. 58

There are a lot of great players in this draft. There are some players drafted who have unbelievable athletic skills. Then there is Chase Young. The terms freak athlete and a generational player gets tossed around too often.

In the case of the former Ohio State Buckeye defensive end, both terms are fit perfectly. Young has every attribute you want in a defensive end. He has ideal size — 6-foot-5, 264 pounds — for a rush end or outside linebacker. He is long in both his upper and lower body.

Chase Young puts you in the mind of Jevon Kearse, Julius Peppers and Jadeveon Clowney when you look at him. Young is not polished as a pass rusher; he needs to add some more pass rush moves to his arsenal.

Much like Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Young is going to an ideal situation. Do not let the Redskins’ 3-13 record fool you; they have some players on defense. Washington is adding Young to a pass rush corps that includes Montez Sweat, Ryan Kerrigan and Jonathan Allen.

He’ll come in day one to do what he does best; get after the quarterback. He is so driven to be great–according to coaches and teammates–what he lacks in polish he will get. Keep in mind, Ron Rivera coached Julius Peppers a great deal of his career.
