NFL Draft 2020: Ranking the 5 biggest steals
By Dante Pryor
There are times where you watch the NFL draft and you say to yourself, “Man they over-thought that pick.” The Cowboys drafting Cedarian “CeeDee” Lamb was not one of those times. Were they in desperate need of a receiver? No, they were not.
They just went and took the best player left on the board. Lamb arguably was the best receiver in this draft. He is a master of the contested catch and is dynamic with the football in his hands. Much like Jerry Jeudy going to the Broncos, the Cowboys bolster a potent receiving corps by taking Lamb.
What makes this such a steal for the Cowboys is they lost Randall Cobb this offseason and replace him with arguably the best receiver in the draft. The Cowboys already have Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup as their already-potent offense got even better.
The Cowboys improved their team simply by taking the best player on the board. They did need to address their defense and Trevon Diggs — another steal — was there for them in the second round and they addressed other holes on their team.
Just by not reaching or over-thinking, they got exponentially better. I don’t know what got into Jerry Jones, but this was one of the better drafts the Cowboys have had and it all started by stealing Lamb.
