Louisville Football: Top 4 prospects for the 2021 NFL Draft

Scott Satterfield turned Louisville football around in 2019 and the Cardinals should be even better in 2021 with serious NFL talent.

When Scott Satterfield took the helm at Louisville, there was uncertainty surrounding the program. Would he be able to clean up the mess that Bobby Petrino left behind and if so, how long would it take?

No one expected Satterfield to turn Louisville into an instant winner, going 8-5 in his first year as head coach with a Music City Bowl victory. He helped develop some elite talent and has another solid team returning in 2020. He could have a handful of players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft but it all depends on if the team can take yet another step.

Louisville has the talent and all you have to do is look at the offensive side of the ball for proof of that. The Cardinals had no problem putting up points last season, averaging 33.1 per game which was No. 31 out of 130 teams nationally. Moreover, they averaged 448 yards per game which happened because they finally found their quarterback.

Defensively, things didn’t go so well, but that doesn’t mean that side of the ball is lacking NFL players, but allowing 440 total yards and 33.4 points per game isn’t going to cut it moving forward.

Louisville will send some guys from both sides of the ball to the 2021 NFL Draft and while the Cardinals may have no true first-rounders, they could have a handful of mid-round selections.
