Charlie Brewer’s outstanding college career has flown under the radar for the past two seasons. He played eight games for a 2017 Baylor squad that went 1-11 and lost games to Liberty and UTSA.

In 2018, he took over as the starting quarterback and threw for 3,019 yards and 19 touchdowns with just nine interceptions while also rushing for 375 yards and seven scores. With Brewer leading the charge, the Bears won seven games, including a victory in the Texas Bowl over Vanderbilt.

The 2019 season was even better for Brewer as he threw for 3,161 yards and 21 touchdowns on seven interceptions. He also added 344 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Brewer’s Bears went 11-1 in the regular season and appeared in both the Big 12 title game and the Sugar Bowl. His lone issue has been staying healthy as he’s dealt with multiple concussions, but if he stays healthy, he’s a top-three quarterback in the conference.

Sam Ehlinger gets plenty of attention ever since he declared Texas “back” after its 2018 Sugar Bowl win over Georgia.

On the field, Ehlinger’s a solid player. As his first full year as the starter in 2018, he threw for 3,292 yards and 25 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also ran for 482 yards and 16 touchdowns as he led the Longhorns to a 9-4 season and Sugar Bowl title.

The 2019 season was a bit of a step back as he threw for more yards at 3,663 and touchdowns with 32 but his interceptions went up to 10. He added 663 rushing yards and seven touchdowns but did not lead his team back to the Big 12 title game after losses to TCU, Iowa State and Baylor late in the season dropped the Longhorns to 6-5. They went onto finish 8-5 with an Alamo Bowl win over Utah, but it was far from being “back” to the glory days of Texas football.

Ehlinger has had a good career thus far and is a top quarterback in the conference, but he can make it a great one by truly bringing Texas back in 2020.

Iowa State’s Brock Purdy isn’t just the most underrated quarterback in the Big 12, he’s the best in the league as well.

Purdy has been nothing but outstanding since arriving in Ames in 2018. As a freshman, Purdy played in 10 games, including the 2018 Alamo Bowl. He threw for 2,250 yards with 16 touchdowns while running for 308 yards and five touchdowns. The then-freshman posted a 169.9 quarterback rating and completed 66 percent of his passes.

He was even better in his first full year as a starter in 2019, throwing for 3,982 yards and 27 touchdowns on just nine interceptions. Purdy added 249 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns while maintaining a 66 percent completion rating and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors.

Entering year three, Purdy is looking to prove he’s worthy of a first round selection in the 2020 NFL draft. Don’t be the one wondering who the Iowa State kid is when he’s a projected top-10 pick. Purdy is the best the Big 12 has to offer.
