It was a bit of a head-scratching move for Kylin Hill to decide to come back to Mississippi State for one final season despite the seemingly constant shuffle of head coaches in recent years. More confusing was his decision after he found out Mike Leach was the guy.

I know what you’re thinking. Leach is known for putting together elite offenses so why the heck wouldn’t Hill want to return and be part of that? What some people don’t realize is the fact that Leach doesn’t like to run the ball a whole lot. He’s known for the air-raid offense and letting his quarterback sling the ball 40-50 times per game.

Hill might change his mind slightly just because of his skill set and what he brings to the table. Sure, he could become more of an all-purpose back, but does he want that.

Honestly, NFL teams love backs who can catch passes as well as run between the tackles and Hill will be able to show that he can do both. He has just 44 catches for 394 yards and five touchdowns through three years and he’s already proven his running ability, coming off a 1,350-yard, 10-touchdown season.

Expect Hill to be involved heavily in the offense and he could actually improve his stock by being more involved in the passing game under Leach.
