Alabama football was home to Tua Tagovailoa and his younger brother Taulia but after the one has gone pro, the other has entered the transfer portal.

And just like that, Alabama went from having two Tagovailoa brothers to zero. The Crimson Tide lost Tua to the NFL after the 2019 season as he was drafted fifth overall by the Dolphins and now Taulia, his younger brother, has decided to enter the transfer portal.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise given the fact that he was right behind Mac Jones on the depth chart at the end of the 2019 season and was expected to be the backup in 2020 and maybe even push for that No. 1 job if the junior struggled.

However, the addition of five-star Bryce Young may have changed things. The incoming dual-threat quarterback from California was rated the No. 2 overall player in the 2020 class and he was expected to make a serious move up the depth chart this fall and potentially overtake Taulia and maybe even Jones.

With Taulia’s decision to enter the transfer portal on Friday, the Tagovailoa era in Tuscaloosa looks to be officially over. This has to be disappointing for Alabama fans who believed he may be the next star quarterback on the roster, following his brother’s footsteps as a top-200 recruit.

In his career with the Tide, he completed 9-of-12 pass attempts for 100 yards and a touchdown, showing promise in the three career games in which he attempted passes. He’ll have three years of eligibility left wherever he does decide to transfer and one program will be getting a talented kid with awesome bloodlines.
