LSU Football: 3 reasons Joe Burrow will turn Bengals around
By Dante Pryor
1. Burrow isn’t alone
Joe Burrow is the franchise. He is the alpha and the leader of this team. However, he is not by himself. Contrary to what people might think, there is talent on this football team. Burrow might be the face of the franchise, but there are pieces on this team.
If you look at Burrow and analyze his last season at LSU, he has certain needs to be successful. He needs receivers that can get open and make contested catches at times. Not to mention a running back who can catch the ball and pick up the blitz.
Offensively, franchising AJ Green was huge. He gives Burrow a reliable target. No matter your opinion on Burrow’s ceiling, he’s a rookie quarterback in the NFL. He will benefit from having a big target to get him out of trouble.
He has running backs Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard to run the football and both are capable receivers out of the backfield. If there is one issue offensively, the Bengals have to improve the offensive line and protect young Burrow.
So, Joe has some pieces to work with during this rebuilding process. He has people that want to be there an organization that seems to want to be better, and there are some existing pieces on the roster.
We’ll see what happens in five years.
