In two straight NFL drafts, Arizona State has had a wide receiver selected in the first round. In the 2019 NFL Draft, N’Keal Harry was selected by the Patriots and in 2020, Brandon Aiyuk went to the 49ers. Both guys could become stars in 2020 for their respective teams.

Could we see another receiver go in round one from Arizona State for the third straight year?

Frank Darby has the best chance to go early in the NFL draft. Round one, though? Probably not, but he could improve his stock tenfold like Aiyuk did in 2019 after a relatively pedestrian 2018 campaign.

Darby has improved his numbers in each of the first three years he’s been in Tempe, going from nine catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman to 31 receptions for 616 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior. He tripled his numbers in a couple of seasons and he could surpass 1,000 yards as a senior like Aiyuk did in 2019.

At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Darby doesn’t have ideal size, but he looks like one of the best returning receivers in the Pac-12.

I could see Darby go on Day 2 if he has a Aiyuk-like jump in 2020.
