Defensive Line

Starters: Josh Paschal (DE), Quinton Bohanna (DT), Phil Hoskins (DT), Jordan Wright (DE/Jack)
Backups: Kordell Looney (DE), Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald (DT), Marquan McCall (DT), J.J. Weaver (DE/Jack)

Outside of losing Lynn Bowden, the two biggest losses from 2019 for the Wildcats are on the defensive line as Calvin Taylor, who had 9.5 sacks, and T.J. Carter, who started parts of three seasons, are now on NFL rosters.

Luckily, the team has plenty of depth and a few starters set to return. The Cats plan to move Josh Paschal back to his natural defensive end position after he spent the year at outside linebacker a year ago. Junior Jordan Wright figures to start at the other end of the defensive line after making three sacks, forced a fumble and scored a touchdown in just 11 games last season.

Inside, Quinton Bohanna returns for his senior season while Phil Hoskins was given a sixth-year medical redshirt by the NCAA after missing the entire 2019 campaign.

Off the bench, UK has Kordell Looney, who made a key sack against Florida last season, Abdule Abadi-Fitzgerald, who has also gotten to the quarterback, Marquan ‘Bully’ McCall who’s a dominant run stopper and former four-star prospect J.J. Weaver entering his redshirt freshman season.

Despite losing two starters, this group figures to be quite deep again for the Wildcats in 2020.
