Linebacker

Starters: DeAndre Square (WLB), Chris Oats (ILB), Jamar ‘Boogie’ Watson (SLB)
Backups: Marquez Bembry, Jamin Davis, Jared Casey, Xaiver Peters

Kentucky’s group of linebackers is as good as any returning group in the SEC in 2020. The group is led by rising senior Jamar ‘Boogie’ Watson, who many compare to program all-time leading sack leader and 2019 first-round draft pick Josh Allen. Watson had 6.5 sacks for the Cats last season with 11.5 tackles for a loss.

On the weak-side, DeAndre Square returns for his junior season after recording 69 total tackles with four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles.

Former four-star prospect Chris Oats will man the middle as Kash Daniel has graduated. Oats made 46 total tackles and forced a fumble in 11 games for Kentucky in 2019.

Jamin Davis headlines the group of reserves along with former four-star prospect Jared Casey and Florida State transfer Xavier Peters who hardly played in his first season with the Wildcats in 2019.

Overall, this group figures to be tough to move the ball past as it’s full of experience in the starting lineup and even off the bench.
