1. Evans fits TCU’s offensive system perfectly

Zachary Evans’ talent will get him on the field sooner rather than later. It helps that the Horned Frogs are needing to replace 62 percent of their rushing offense from last season that includes designed jet-sweeps. The Horned Frogs run a more aggressive multiple offense scheme that implores the pistol and the RPO.

Evans played in an offense in high school that used multiple variations including RPO packages with jet-sweeps that TCU used with wide receiver Jalen Reagor last season.

Last year, Max Duggan rushed for 555 yards and six touchdowns on 130 carries on top of the 2,077 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 181 completions (out of 339 attempts). The Horned Frogs have an experienced dual-threat quarterback and now a five-star running back in Evans who is very familiar with packages that TCU specializes in.

The loss of Reagor to the 2020 NFL Draft will be significant for the Horned Frogs when the season starts. This will create some emphasis on the Horned Frogs to run the ball early and often in the 2020 season.

This offseason, TCU has been granted the fifth-best odds by a number of different betting sites to win the Big 12. This was before the Horned Frogs added a potentially pivotal piece to their offense in Evans on Monday.
