Khalil Shakir took a big step forward in his sophomore season in 2019 by recording 63 catches for 872 yards and six touchdowns and flew under the radar all year.

If Hank Bachmeier can stay healthy, Shakir could see those numbers go up in Boise State’s wide open attack on offense. Shakir also carries the ball quite a bit for a starting receiver, carrying the ball 19 times for 66 yards and three touchdowns.

Shakir needs to develop a more big-play threat ability and improve upon his 13.8 yards per catch average and the fact that he only averaged 3.5 yards per carry on the touches that he had is not great because Shakir lacks ideal size, standing at 6-foot-0 and 186 pounds and he needs to become more of a big-play threat to further elevate his draft status.

The junior wide out has really good hands and is a really precise route runner and those are his major strengths as a player.

Keep an eye on Shakir in Boise’s offense this season.
