NC State Football: Top 3 prospects for 2021 NFL Draft
Unlike the defensive line, the receiving corps for NC State haven’t produced a ton of NFL talent over the years as Kelvin Harmon was selected in round six of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Redskins, but he was the first Wolfpack wide out picked since 2013.
That means Emeka Emezie has to break the bad trend.
The senior receiver led the team in 2019 with 56 catches for 576 yards and two touchdowns, but he wasn’t really given an opportunity to succeed. What I mean by this is that he didn’t have a quarterback reliable enough to get him the ball on a regular basis and his numbers struggled because of it.
When Emezie had Ryan Finley throwing him the ball as a sophomore in 2018, he caught 56 passes for 616 yards and five touchdowns but his numbers dipped despite him being an even more reliable target in 2019. That should change with the coaching staff settling on a quarterback in 2020.
Emezie has solid size at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds and he’s shown to be a sure-handed pass-catcher when targeted. If he can get better quarterback play from Devin Leary, he’ll be one of the best receivers in the ACC and a quick riser up board come draft day.
