Houston football’s Josh Jones had first and early second-round grades by draft experts, but fell to the Cardinals, giving Kyler Murray quality protection.

Some argue that the quarterback position is the most important position on a football but how good is a great quarterback if he’s flat on his back for half the game.

And for Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, he enters his second season as QB1 with high expectations — expectations he can’t meet without help from his offensive line.

Enter Josh Jones, a third-round selection from Houston.

Jones is an athlete and can see immediate playing time at either tackle position. At left tackle, Jones brings a fluid motion and his strength to be able to protect Murray’s blind side. At right tackle, he will be able to use his quickness to be able to aid Murray if he was to get out side of the pocket to throw on the run or handle business with his feet.

It’s a lot of hype for a third-rounder, but many draft experts had Jones going any where from the middle of the first round to the middle of the second round.

The Arizona Cardinals have had a great offseason with the acquisition of DeAndre Hopkins in a trade with the Texans and with drafting arguably the best line backer in the draft, Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson. Then they get a steal in the third rounder adding a future Pro Bowler in Josh Jones.

The Cardinals’ division is tough but with the selection of Josh Jones, they’ve gotten one step closer to taking the NFC West crown.
