Taulia Tagovailoa chose Maryland football to play for the Terrapins. He will play with a familiar coach in Mike Locksley.

It was destiny when Taulia Tagovailoa joined his brother Tua at Alabama as the future starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide.

Destiny had different plans for the Tagovailoa brother as he decided to make his move from his older brother and transfer out of Alabama. He didn’t follow his brother like many people thought he would. Tagovailoa took the alternative route by choosing to enroll at Maryland to play for the Terrapins.

For many Alabama fans, it seemed like he was going to be next in line for the starting quarterback position while Tua while still in school. After Tua’s hip injury, Mac Jones stepped up and played significantly. A combination of Jones’ success this past season and Bryce Young’s high-caliber potential was too much for Tagovailoa to overcome. It was clear that Tagovailoa would not be the future for the Crimson Tide.

In his freshman season at Alabama, Tagovailoa appeared in five games and accounted for 100 yards and a touchdown on nine completions out of 12 attempts. He needed to reshape his destiny by choosing to play for the Terrapins and head coach Mike Locksley.

There are many reasons Tagovailoa chose to play for Maryland for the remainder of his collegiate career. Whether it will take this upcoming 2020 season or later in his collegiate career, Tagovailoa will have a tremendous impact on the Terrapins.

Here are three reasons Taulia will turn Maryland around.
