2. Tagovailoa will be groomed after a year of training

It is unclear yet on whether Taulia Tagovailoa will be granted immediate playing eligibility for the Terrapins in the 2019 season. He only played one season of college football at Alabama and transferred. The NCAA did allow a one-year player like Justin Fields to transfer without having to sit out for a year.

If Tagovailoa must sit out a year, he will be given more time to learn the system at Maryland and their offensive schemes. Former Virginia Tech star Josh Jackson will be in his second season with the team as a senior. The Terrapins are expecting more production out of him after throwing 1,274 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions in 10 games.

Three quarterbacks from last year are transferring to another program. Tagovailoa would learn from Jackson this upcoming season.

It will be highly unlikely that he will be overlooked again. It was rare for a top-tier quarterback like Tagovailoa to join the program. He will an unofficial title of Maryland’s chosen one that will bring them in competition for the Big Ten title. Tagovailoa can use this 2020 season, if he doesn’t play and can redshirt, to train with freshman wide receiver Rakim Jarrett. He is one of the first five-recruits in program history to sign with that rating.

Both Tagovailoa and Jarrett could create one of the most dangerous quarterback-receiver tandems in college football.
