Elijah Collins was the lead back for the Spartans last season as a redshirt freshman and he is looking to build upon last season and be a workhouse running back that they can count on while the new quarterback gets adjusted.

Collins broke out last year and finished with 988 yards on 222 carries with five touchdowns.

There are several areas for Collins to improve upon to become a more complete running back such as being more involved in the passing game and improving his pass protection. He also will benefit from a new offense because not a lot of defenses respected the Spartans’ passing game in 2019. He was facing a stacked box to run against and that is why is Collins only averaged 4.4 yards per carry.

Collins is a day three prospect now, but a big season could move him up draft boards.
