There are going to be young guys and high-impact newcomers all over the field for the Utes next season — the Utes lost too many players for there not to be. However, Jake Bentley is going to have the most impact because the Utes need him.

One could argue they lost the heart and soul of their team when Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss left for the NFL. Bentley is a veteran and the best quarterback on their roster. If they Utes have any hope of competing in the Pac-12 South next season, they need Bentley to stabilize the offense.

The defense has lots to replace as well. There are two or three really good defensive prospects who could have taken this spot. They need some young guys to come in and step up in the secondary.

However, Bentley is the veteran. He has the big arm and is the most talented quarterback the Utes have in the quarterback room. He turned down Alabama to go to South Carolina. Andy Ludwig and the Utes offensive staff have to be excited to have a talent like Bentley.

If he can have a good season for the Utes, they might have a chance to make some noise despite all the losses from last year’s team.
