The once-unknown Florida football gunslinger

Kyle Trask walked into 2019 as a backup quarterback, and walked out as one of the best gunslingers in the SEC. He stepped in nicely for Feleipe Franks, navigating the Gators to a very good season.

Trask has the prototypical size for a NFL quarterback at 6-5, 239 pounds. Adequate mobility, able to tuck it and run when the situation calls for it. He is a tough player who likes to get the ball out quick. His short and intermediate accuracy is solid, and should improve with more in season reps.

His deep ball accuracy is going to be the biggest question mark going into 2020. Trask completed 49 percent of his passes over 20 yards downfield. It is worth noting, three of his six interceptions were thrown on said deep ball passes.

Trask has high-caliber NFL throws on tape, he just needs to bring it more consistently.

So far, it looks as if Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Trey Lance are the top three quarterbacks for the 2021 class. Trask has the potential to break into that top three. To do that he will need to build on a solid first season and lead the Gators to the top of the SEC (a playoff appearance wouldn’t hurt either).
