Ohio State football’s biggest star

Ohio State has been extraordinarily successful with dual-threat quarterbacks such as Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett, Dwayne Haskins — to an extent — and now Justin Fields.

This past season, Fields threw for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also rushed for 484 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season after transferring in from Georgia.

A quarterback with his dynamic arm strength and accuracy makes him a worthy NFL draft prospect. He’s also very explosive on the run whether it is through scrambling, designed runs or throwing on the run. His huge frame also makes him tough to bring down either in the pocket or on the run.

Fields will be competing with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence throughout the 2020 season in terms of attracting the most NFL hype. Sporting News and Athlon Sports have Fields as the second-rated prospect of the 2021 draft class behind Lawrence so far. USA Today has Fields as the third-rated behind Lawrence and Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

Lawrence is the most prototypical pro-style quarterback since Andrew Luck. Fields is an electrifying playmaker for the Buckeyes.

For him to make sure he stays as one of the top three prospects for the 2021 class, he will need to stay consistent throughout the season and not experience a drop in efficiency.
