Purdue Boilermakers (2013). 2. player. 848. . .

Record: 1-11, 0-8 Big 12

The 2013 Purdue Boilermakers came extremely close to having a winless season under first-year head coach Darrell Hazell.

Just a year removed from a bowl birth in 2012, Purdue’s 2013 season was a miserable win as their lone win was a close 20-14 home victory over FCS foe Indiana State.

In all fairness, much of Purdue’s non-conference slate was difficult as they were blown out by both a tough Cincinnati team and MAC champion Northern Illinois and fell 31-24 to a Notre Dame squad coming off a national championship game appearance.

What earns them the second spot on this list is their “effort” in Big Ten play. Outside of a 20-16 loss to Illinois, the Boilermakers never came within more than 14 points with their next closest loss a 14-0 shoutout at Michigan State.

Some of the worst scores included a 56-0 home loss to Ohio State, a 44-7 loss to Nebraska and a 56-36 loss to Indiana in their rivalry game.

The year began a four-year stretch of misery for Purdue as they went a combined 9-33 under Hazell who was fired halfway through the 2016 season.

While not enough to earn the top spot on this list, Purdue’s 2013 season goes down as one of the worst Power Five campaigns not only of the past decade, but ever.
