. Illinois Fighting Illini (2010). 10. player. 807. .

Record: 2-10, 0-9 Big Ten

Following a seven-win 2011 season that included a bowl victory over UCLA, Illinois looked to get back to a bowl in 2012 under first-year head coach Tim Beckham.

The Illini opened the season with a victory over Western Michigan and rebounded from a blowout loss to Arizona State to beat Charleston Southern in Week 3.

From there, the season was a disaster. The Illini lost all nine of their conference games, including a 45-0 defeat at Michigan, a 28-point loss to group of five Louisiana Tech at home and a 36-point loss in their rivalry game versus Northwestern.

In the Illini’s 10 losses, only one was by less than two possessions as they fell to Purdue 20-17.

Poor quarterback play was the biggest problem for Illinois as starting quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase threw just four touchdowns while throwing eight interceptions.

All in all, the season was a nightmare in Champaign, but with two wins and at least one close call, they are just 10th worst Power Five squad of the decade.
