Harrison Bailey almost took this spot on the list. It is hard to imagine anyone in Knoxville having a lot of confidence that incumbent quarterback Jarrett Guarantano or last season’s back up Brian Mauer is the answer at quarterback this season.

According to reports, there is going to be an open competition at quarterback whenever players are allowed to begin practice. We could look back and see Harrison Bailey as the impact player for the Volunteers.

If there is anything that could save Guarantano’s job it is a big-time pass catcher. Not only did the Vols sign three receivers out of high school, but they also added two via the transfer portal. They need to replace three of their top four receivers from last season.

Of the receivers the Volunteers brought in this cycle, Malachi Wideman has the opportunity to have the biggest impact for Tennessee next season. He is a big target at almost 6-5 and 200 pounds. He comes to Knoxville already with ideal size.

According to John Garcia of 247Sports, he is a freakish athlete who is an effortless leaper. He has a large catch radius and is dynamic after the catch. He’ll compete for snaps for sure next season.
