There are many players poised for big seasons in 2020. Here are five college football players who are going to break out this season.

The performance of the LSU Tigers showed us several things last season. First, their performance showed us the sky is the limit for offensive football. Second, the play of Joe Burrow proves that a break out player can come from anywhere.

There’s an argument to be made that the last three Heisman Trophy winners — Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Joe Burrow — came from nowhere to win the award. At the very least, they were not the favorite to win the trophy at the beginning of the season.

There is a myriad of important factors that cause a breakout season for a player. In the case of the aforementioned quarterbacks, it was a convergence of offensive philosophy and freakish athletic talent around them.

It could be a veteran player having to anchor the team until the younger players acclimate themselves to playing major college football. Even still, it could be as simple as the right place, right time.

There are so many players that can make this list. Trevor Lawrence is poised to show the country why he’s the best quarterback and NFL prospect in the country. Kedon Slovis wants to prove that his impressive freshman season is no fluke.

This is a list of five, however. These are five of the many players poised to have breakout seasons in 2020.
