Maryland football is looking to build themselves into a consistent program and there are three players looking to make themselves known for the 2021 draft.

Most teams in the Big Ten become powerhouses with winning traditions or become consistent NFL developers of prospects. The Maryland Terrapins are a team that flirted with the potential to be both but have yet to find that potential lately.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Terrapins had two of their players get drafted with other players, including early enrollees, going undrafted. There is potential for more Terrapins to get drafted in next year’s 2021 NFL Draft but not without a determined push for efficiency.

In the first season of Mike Locksley as head coach, the Terrapins saw potential to be a contender in the Big Ten before they collapsed. The lack of elite playmakers throughout the roster plagued the Terrapins as the season continued. While the more efficient playmakers like running back Anthony McFarland Jr. and safety Antoine Brooks were able to produce results on the field, other players at other positions like quarterback and defensive line struggled.

McFarland was drafted in the fourth round and Brooks was drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Terrapins will now rely on their new star playmakers to potentially lead them into a future of contending for the Big Ten.

They will also have a chance to display their talents and leadership in front of NFL coaches and scouts as they will need some help and evaluation.
