The Missouri Tigers were one game away from a national championship berth, but they would have to go through the team that had owned them for years, the Oklahoma Sooners.

Missouri had lost to Oklahoma earlier in the season, 41-31, but came in confident that they could get the job done and punch their ticket to New Orleans for the national championship game.
The game was all knotted up at the half 14-14, but everything came crashing down in the second half as Oklahoma would go on a 24-3 in the second half and shut down Missouri’s high-powered offense and Heisman contender Chase Daniel.
Missouri would come close in 2013 to making the national championship, but this was Gary Pinkel’s best team in Columbia and if they had found a way to get past the Sooners, he may have changed his coaching legacy.
