We saw Florida continue their dynasty and the Big 12 produce record setting offenses. College football rewind counts down the top games from 2008.

This was a huge turning point in several ways in college football. The SEC was at the height of its dominance, Alabama was back under Nick Saban, the Big 12 was revolutionizing college football with the spread offense attacks and the lights were about to go out on the dominant era of USC under Pete Carroll but not before he put out one last great team.

When I went back and was looking at the 2008 season, my biggest takeaway was that this would have made for a great College Football Playoff year. Florida, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas Tech and Utah all had great seasons and I think could have won the playoff if given the chance.

The 2008 Florida team would be known as one of the most talented teams of all time and known for when Gators quarterback Tim Tebow made one of the most iconic promises in college football history.

The spread and high-scoring offenses that we take for granted in college football nowadays were taking college football by storm with Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech putting out some of the best offenses in recent memory. Alabama announced that it was back among the college football elite with early blowout wins over Clemson and Georgia and they would ride that momentum to a 12-0 start.

This episode of college football rewind is going to take a look back at the five most important games from the 2008 season.
