The biggest concern for the Irish offense — even more than Ian Book — is who makes the plays next season. The reliable Tony Jones Jr. declared for the NFL and both Chase Claypool and Cole Kmet are in the NFL as well.

There are a lot of young talented pieces in South Bend but they are inexperienced. The receivers slated to start next season have a combined 24 receptions between them. Jafar Armstrong does return, but can he be a workhorse running back?

Even if Armstrong is back and 100 percent, how good is the depth behind him? Are C’Bo Flemister and Jahmir Smith ready to take carries away from him? Incoming all-purpose running back Chris Tyree is one of the fastest recruits in the country.

Tommy Tremble flashed at tight end last season at times. He is not a traditional in-line tight end, but can he be the reliable target Ian Book needs in the seam of a defense. There are a lot of possibilities. Someone has to step up and become the alpha playmaker.

The biggest knock on the Irish during this run of double-digit wins is their lack of dynamic playmakers on offense. If you look at the teams that make the playoff, every one of them has a home run hitter.

Who is the player to be that for the Irish?
