ACC Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
Absolutely electric ACC football star
In just two seasons at Virginia Tech, Micheal Vick solidified himself as the top quarterback in the program’s rich history.
In 1999, Vick finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up and the Big East Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year after throwing for 2,065 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 682 yards and nine touchdowns. The Hokies put together a perfect regular season and a trip to the Sugar Bowl, where they fell to Florida State.
He followed that up with 1,234 passing yards and eight touchdown passes in 2020 with 617 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The Hokies again went 11-1 and finished the season with a 41-20 victory over Clemson in the Gator Bowl.
Vick was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He went onto reach four Pro Bowls in a career split between Atlanta, the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.
