ACC football QB who brought unprecedented success to Winston-Salem

Riley Skinner helped take a historically losing Wake Forest program to new heights. In four seasons as the Demon Deacons starting quarterback, Skinner led the program to three bowl games, including two victories.

As a freshman in 2006, Skinner won ACC Rookie of the Year honors after leading the Demon Deacons to a victory over Georgia Tech in the ACC championship and earning a trip to the Orange Bowl.

The following season, he led the team to a 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl win over UConn and in 2008 took down Navy in the Eaglebank Bowl.

He finished his college career by throwing for a career-high 3,160 and 26 touchdowns but could not bring the team to a fourth straight bowl game.

To this day, Skinner is Wake Forest’s all-time passing leader with 9,762 passing yards and leads the program in passing touchdowns with 60.
