ACC Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
An all-around ACC football winner
No quarterback had quite an impact on the Clemson Tigers as Deshaun Watson. Watson took over as Clemson’s starting quarterback in 2015, where he passed for 4,109 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the Tigers to an ACC title and to the national championship game.
He finished the season as a Heisman finalist, took home the ACC Player of the Year Award, Davey O’Brien Award and Manning Award.
In 2016, Watson had another brilliant season throwing for a single-season program record 4,593 yards and 41 touchdowns while rushing for 629 yards and nine touchdowns. He again led the Tigers to an ACC title and brought home the program’s first national championship since 1981. He again was named a Heisman finalist and won the Davey O’Brien Award and Manning Award.
Watson finished his college career ranked second in program history in passing yards (10,163) and passing touchdowns (90).
