ACC Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
Winston was 29-1 as an ACC football star
In his two seasons’ at Florida State, Jameis Winston solidified himself as one of college football’s most accomplished quarterbacks.
As a redshirt freshman in 2013, Winston threw for 4,057 yards and a single-season program record 40 touchdowns while adding 219 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He led the Seminoles to a perfect 14-0 season that included an ACC Championship game win over Duke and a National Championship victory over Auburn.
Winston’s stellar season earned him the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award, Manning Award, Davey O’Brien Award and the AP College Player of the Year award.
In 2014, Winston led the Seminoles to another perfect regular season and ACC title but fell to Oregon in the first-ever College Football Playoff.
Despite just two seasons, Winston ranks third in program history in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns. He was drafted first overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
