While the usual College Football Playoff attendees receive plenty of offseason attention, which sleeper teams could steal one of their spots in 2020?

With only four teams being allowed into the College Football Playoff, most teams can barely afford to lose a single game in the regular season and still expect to be considered.

In it’s six-year history, only 11 teams have been selected to this exclusive competition and four of those 11 didn’t manage to win a game. Oklahoma has been selected four times and lost each game.

No team has made it to the playoff for every year of its existence, but Clemson and Alabama have found themselves fighting for a title every season except for one, making themselves the only teams that are considered a lock almost every year.

But for this list, we’re not looking at the Clemsons and Alabamas of the world. We’re taking a look at the teams that you wouldn’t normally expect to see in the college level postseason. The type of team that’s probably going to lose by 20-plus points in its first appearance.

None of the teams mentioned will even be a favorite to win their own conference, much less make it to the College Football Playoff. But, nonetheless, they have just as much of a shot as anybody else.

After a down year from Alabama and a rough recruiting cycle, maybe now is the time for a new team to rise up and take the Tide’s spot.
