Miami does not currently have a quarterback committed for the 2021 class and has missed out on several of their targets already. This is a big deal, not only because quarterback is the most important position in football, but this is the first recruiting class for new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and he will be looking for his hand-picked guy to lead the up-tempo offense.

The Hurricanes have missed out on two of their top targets at quarterback, Jake Garcia and Miller Moss, as they are currently both committed to USC. The focus for them now turns to the talented four-star dual-threat quarterback Jaden Milroe, who is currently committed to the Texas Longhorns.

There is reason for optimism for ‘Canes fans, however. Milroe is close with new Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King and he has spoken very highly of Rhett Lashlee and the new direction of the Hurricanes’ offense. He believes that he would fit right in the system.

Milroe is the definition of dual-threat quarterback and is passer that is still developing, but his talent is through the roof and this would be a major get for Miami as King is a senior, and the options behind him are N’Kosi Perry, who has experience but is average at best, Tate Martell has not lived up to his high school ranking and Tyler Van Dyke is a true freshman that has talent but is unproven.

The Katy, Texas, native would give the Hurricanes a talented option at quarterback that they have not had at the position and that is why I think he should be the Hurricanes’ top target for the 2021 recruiting class.
