Big 12 Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
Collin Klein arrived at Kansas State as a wide receiver but left as the best quarterback in program history.
In four seasons with the Wildcats, including two as the starting quarterback, Klein threw for 4,724 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 2,485 yards and 56 touchdowns.
In 2011, Klein led K-State to a 10-3 season and appearance in the Cotton Bowl after throwing for 1,918 yards and rushing for 1,141 yards and a single-season program record 27 touchdowns.
The following season, Klein led the Wildcats to a share of the Big 12 title and a trip to the Fiesta Bowl after throwing for 2,641 yards and 16 touchdowns with 920 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns. He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting while taking home the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award, Big 12 Athlete of the Year award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Klein is Kansas State’s all-time rushing touchdown leader and ranks seventh in passing yards, rushing yards and passing touchdowns.
He is now the quarterbacks coach at Kansas State after a stint with Northern Iowa.
