Notre Dame Football: Ranking 2020 opponents by toughness
Duke is just barely ahead of Navy on this list because of the Midshipmen losing Malcolm Perry, but the Blue Devils aren’t in the best of shape, either. They do, however, add Clemson quarterback transfer Chase Brice who could be one of the better passers in the ACC this season.
The Blue Devils finished just 5-7 a year ago and they had the No. 114 offense in the country — second-worst in the ACC — which will be a problem here.
Notre Dame might just shut the Blue Devils down completely. Sorry, Chase.
Jamie Newman’s departure shocked everyone, but the starting quarterback wanted to play for a national contender for his final season and Georgia was the choice.
Sam Hartman takes over at quarterback and that’s not necessarily a bad thing as he has plenty of starting experience. He passed for 830 yards and four touchdowns in 2019 as a redshirt freshman and he’ll be fine under center in 2020.
Wake Forest was an ACC contender through eight games last season but fell off near the end of the year. Dave Clawson needs to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
