This episode of college football rewind takes a look at the most important games from the 2009 season and how they shaped the campaign and future.

The 2009 season was a huge pivotal point in college football. Nick Saban made Alabama a national champion in just his third year. As one dynasty started, the Florida Gators was ending.

The 2009 season was not supposed to include the start of a new dynasty in college football. It was supposed to see the Gators roll through the entire season untouched and end with their third national title in four years and be one of the greatest teams the sport has ever seen.

One of the other main headlines heading into the season was the return of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford and Texas gunslinger Colt McCoy who all returned for their senior seasons after finishing as the top three vote-getters in the Heisman race in 2008. That storyline took a big hit when Bradford injured his shoulder in the first game of the season against BYU and was hindered for the rest of the season.

Alabama climbed back to the top of college football in Saban’s third season in Tuscaloosa and started the greatest dynasty that college football has ever seen.
