Nebraska Football: 3 burning questions heading into 2020
By Dante Pryor
Nebraska football looks to take another step toward returning to the national stage this season. These questions must be answered first.
This is year three of the Scott Frost rebuild at Nebraska. The Cornhuskers have improved their first two seasons under Frost and they look to take the next step in their rebuilding process and make a bowl game for the first time since 2016.
This season, the Cornhuskers should be able to make a move in a wide-open Big Ten West. Wisconsin not only loses Jonathan Taylor — arguably the best runner in Badger history — they also lose Zack Baun and Chris Orr on their defense.
Minnesota has to prove that last year was not a fluke while finding replacements for Antoine Winfield Jr., Tyler Johnson and five NFL prospects total. Northwestern is attempting to prove their abysmal season is a fluke. Purdue and Illinois look to continue building as well. Purdue returns players from injury and Illinois seeks to return to a bowl game.
That leaves Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers are poised to continue building from their first two seasons. They’ve improved their recruiting since Frost came to Lincoln. They’ve recruited in the top 25 over the last three seasons.
Can the Cornhuskers turn the corner this season and make a bowl game? What will Husker Nation consider successful? Before they answer that question, here are three questions the Huskers must answer this season.
