Because of his injury-filled 2019 season, college football fans may be forgetting how dominant of a year Rondale Moore had as a true freshman.

More from College Football News

As a true freshman in 2018, Moore took college football by storm and recorded 114 catches for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns while also contributing with 21 carries for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Moore is the kind of all-purpose receiver who’s capable of winning the Heisman due to the amount of touches and the ways that he can affect any game.

Moore suffered injuries last season and that was the cause of his numbers taking a nosedive and was a big reason Purdue fell to a 4-8 record last season. He is clearly the most valuable player on his team and one of the most valuable players to his team in the entire country and coupled with the various ways that Moore can affect a game, that makes him a clear Heisman contender.

But Moore faces one big obstacle before becoming a Heiman contender. Purdue is probably not going to win enough games to be taken seriously enough in the Big Ten and nationally. If Moore can replicate and/or improve upon them and Purdue surprises with more wins than expected, he will be getting a Heisman invite.
