College Football: 5 receivers who could win 2020 Heisman Trophy
The best all-around receiver in the country and one of the best that I have watched in recent years, Ja’Marr Chase is one of the best playmakers in college football and his 2019 season is proof.
Chase and the entire LSU offense had a magical ride in 2019 and he put up monster numbers, recording 84 catches for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. LSU’s offense will be missing Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and Clyde Edwards-Helaire so the new quarterback will be relying a lot on Chase to help smooth the transition.
The elite NFL prospect will have a lot going for him as a potential Heisman contender. With LSU breaking in a new quarterback, Chase will have the opportunity to show that it was not just Burrow that made him an elite receiver and that could be big in the eyes of Heisman voters.
Another thing that Chase will have is plenty of opportunities. LSU will have big games against Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Texas and big performances in any of those games could lead to his Heisman moment. LSU will have a chance to win plenty of games and be in the national conversation and that will be a big thing for him.
Expect Chase to put up monster numbers again and then go on to be a top-five draft pick in 2020.
