Big Ten football has a storied history of great teams. What are some of the best seasons in recent memory for each school?

No doubt about it, Big Ten football has a long and decorated history. Established in 1896 as The Western Conference, the Big Ten is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the country.

The league started with seven schools and eventually has grown to 14 schools. The conference’s footprint expands 11 states, from the coast of New Jersey all the way to America’s heartland in Nebraska.

Throughout the years there has been a lot of football games played in the Big Ten. Focusing on the 21st century alone is still a lot of games. Each school has celebrated highs and had to endure low points during that time. Which season in the 21st century is each team’s best?

Some teams have several great seasons to choose from whereas others it might be easier as they only had one or two outstanding years. It also does not necessarily have to be the most wins for a particular team. Wins, championships, individual player performances and overall team strength were all taken into account to choose the best season for each team.
