Les Miles took over at Kansas in 2019 and even he didn’t things would turn around right away. The Jayhawks had spent years in the cellar of the Big 12 and that didn’t change as they finished 3-9.

Kansas returns Pooka Williams Jr. at running back and the duo of Andrew Parchment and Stephon Robinson Jr. at receiver which should certainly boost the offense, but not having a clear starter at quarterback will hurt.

On defense, this team was a disaster in 2019, finishing 122nd nationally and the Jayhawks return just three starters. Will Miles have enough for a turnaround in 2020? Probably not.

Former Utah State head coach Matt Wells took over in 2019 and while he didn’t make a bowl game, finishing 5-7, he did find his quarterback of the future in Alan Bowman.

In fact, Bowman finished with over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns with three picks in limited action and he could develop into one of the best passers in the conference. Plus, the receiving corps could be one of the best in the league and the Red Raiders’ leading rusher returns.

Texas Tech could be bowl-bound in 2020, but don’t expect an upset here. It’s not out of the question completely, though.
