Doug Martin, New Mexico State Aggies

Record: 22-63 in 7 seasons

The New Mexico State Aggies are a program that has been juggling their affiliates in conferences since 2012. The Aggies were part of the Western Athletic Conference from 2005 until it dissolved after the 2012 season. As a result, the Aggies have experienced underwhelming seasons with Doug Martin as head coach.

Since his time as head coach of the Aggies, Martin has only coached one winning season in 2017 with a 7-6 record. This was the last season that the Aggies were a part of the Sun Belt before going independent.

Before 2017, the last time that the Aggies accumulated a winning season was in 2002 where the Aggies went 7-5. Outside of the seven-win season in 2017, Martin has not been able to coach the Aggies to a year with more than three wins.

Martin’s time as head coach of the Aggies might be coming to an end soon after the Aggies accounted for a 2-10 record last year. Their lone win versus a fellow FBS opponent was at home against the UTEP Miners.

They are projected to account for another 2-10 record this 2020 season with only four offensive starters returning. They are also returning seven starters from a defense that was ranked 129th (among all 130 FBS teams) in points allowed per game (41) and 129th in rushing yards allowed per game (259.2).
