With offensive superstars and an experienced defense, Oklahoma State football is in prime position to win the Big 12 and make a playoff push.

Oklahoma State football has dominated the headlines recently, but for all of the wrong reasons.

If the Cowboys can move past the distractions and come together as a team, they have all of the ingredients for a special season: a 2,000-yard rusher in running back Chuba Hubbard, a superstar receiver in Tylan Wallace, an exciting young quarterback in Spencer Sanders and a defense that returns 10 starters and has depth.

There is one lingering problem that is in the mind of Cowboys fans everywhere: the Oklahoma Sooners.

Mike Gundy has not had much success against the Sooners since taking over at Oklahoma State and has not been able to beat Lincoln Riley since he took over Oklahoma in 2017.

There is also the concern that Oklahoma State never responds to pressure. Whenever the Cowboys are picked to win the Big 12 or challenge for it, they come up short. They have performed better when all eyes are not on them and that is why some are hesitant to pick the Cowboys to win anything significant.

Everything is in place for Oklahoma State to win the Big 12 and be a darkhorse contender for the college football playoff. Here’s how I think the 2020 season plays out for the Cowboys.
